Not many people can scarf down a plate of grilled cheese as fast as Takeru Kobayashi, the Japanese 33-year-old competitive eater. He is best known as the six-time champion of the Nathan’s Hot Dog eating contest, and just ate 13 grilled cheese in one minute, setting a new world record. 

The competition was held at the GroupMe Grill during the South by Southwest Interactive festival in Austin, Texas. This victory represents a new record category, with the previous grilled cheese record being set by Joey “Jaws” Chestnut for eating an amazing 49 sandwiches in 10 minutes. A question for the bold, what’s next for Kobayashi to eat, and how fast can he eat it?
