The wraparound cover band on the 8th “complete edition” volume of Hokusei Katushika and Naoki Urasawa’s Master Keaton manga on Wednesday revealed that the detective story is planned to have a sequel. Urasawa is returning to draw Master KeatonRemaster with a story by Takashi Nagasaki (Monster, Pluto, Billy Bat). The new series is debuting in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Original on March 19. The premier date happens to be 18 years after the first manga concluded in the same magazine. The first Master Keaton manga was launched in Big Comic Original in 1988. The series inspired an anime adaptation in 1998, and also an original video anime (OVA) continuance in 2004. The television series and OVA was later released by Geneon in North America.
This new manga will be set 20 years after the end of the original Master Keaton story. The series will once again follow the half-Japanese, half-English father, multi-talented detective as he investigates cases in Europe.
