It’s hard to overstate my satisfaction now that we’re teaching with Portals!

Valve has recently introduced a “Steam for Schools” initiative, currently in beta. It offers a limited version of Steam to educators, who will be able to use games to teach math and science.
Right now, Steam for Schools features Portal 2, Portal 2’s level editor, and Steam Workshop. Though Steam for Schools is only available free to educators, if you already own Portal 2 you can check out the “Teach With Portals” website and read the lesson plans that Valve has come up with. See what you could be learning with Portals! If you’re a student or know an educator, make sure to recommend it to them as well.
Valve’s initiative could be really great for math and science education if it can get past the school boards. Thinking back to how much educational software taught me as a kid, I think that Steam for Schools could be exactly what we need to encourage more kids to go into the sciences.
