Nintendo announced during their Nintendo Direct Webcast that it will release the Nintendo 3DS XL, a bigger version of the 3DS with a 4.88 inch screen. Why couldn’t they just make it a 5 inch screen?  I mean, who doesn’t want to stare at a 5 inch screen for hours at a time?  I guess ‘4.88 inch screen’ sounded better.

Nintendo did not say if the new 3DS XL will have a higher screen resolution or a built-in second circle pad. We will have to wait and see.

The system will come in different colors such as white, red x black and silver x black and be priced at 18,900 yen or $199.99 US dollars. It will be released on July 28 in Japan and August 19 in North America, the same day as the New Super Mario Bros. 2 game.  The American version of the 3DS XL will come with a 4 GB SD card because we Americans LOVE memory!
