Among its weaponry are twin gatling BB guns that can shoot some 6000 BB’s per minute and a water-bottle rocket launcher, though eventually they’ll switch out those BB’s with real bullets and those water bottles with grenades because BB’s and water bottles don’t win wars!

Here’s a blast from the past. An entire decade after the action anime series YuYu Hakusho debuted on Cartoon Network (February 2002), Kotobukiya is manufacturing ARTFX J statues of the demons Kurama and Hiei. The 8-inch tall (1/8 scale) Hiei figure, made by the sculptor Hideaki Kiyohara, has just been scheduled for an August 2012 release.
From Kotobukiya’s description
A Kotobukiya Japanese import! Kotobukiya is proud to combine a classic manga and anime property with a hot new statue format: YuYu Hakusho and the ARTFX J! Created in 1990, the original YuYu Hakusho series ran for years and was then adapted to anime, telling the tales of a student who is brought back from death to serve as an “Underworld Detective” fighting supernatural crime. Now, the great characters from YuYu Hakusho are coming to you in the ARTFX J Series, a bold new expansion designed “to bring classic Japanese characters to their fans worldwide.” First up is the fiery demon born to an Ice Maiden, Hiei! The warrior and swordsman stands in a relaxed martial arts pose, his right arm extended as he focuses his supernatural energies. He wears a black and white fighting outfit complete with boots and wide multi-layered belt, while a white strap wraps around his left hand. Hiei’s demonic heritage is apparent in his red eyes and jet black hair with white fringe, and you can display him with either of two included faces with or without the evil “Jagan” eye. He also comes with alternate arms, one with the black dragon tattoo and the other with the black dragon itself curled around it! Sculpted by Hideaki Kiyohara, Hiei stands 8 inches tall (1/8 scale) and goes perfectly with the other new YuYu Hakusho release Kurama.
Ever wished that Bleach would be made into a live-action movie? Yeah…me either. Unfortunately, one brave soul has dared to take up the task of creating such a thing. Perennial Hollywood has confirmed that on Wednesday Warner Brothers studio purchased the live-action rights of the popular supernatural shounen series and has began working on the adaptation right away assigning Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans Remake) as the script writer. Producers such as Michael Ewing (Filmwork’s Partner), Peter Segal (Get Smart, The Longest Yard, Anger Management), Masi Oka (Heroes, Get Smart) and Branon Coluccio as an executive producer will be on the job. Segal reported that he has always been a fan of Bleach and has a lot of respect for Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach. Oka also reported that some of his characters in his American TV Series, Heroes, were inspired by Dragonball and also described himself as a Weekly Shounen Jump nerd.
In what seems to be a Manga frenzy in Hollywood, Warner Brothers have already acquired the rights to a few other titles such as Death Note, Akira, and Ninja Scroll which seem to be underway in the near future. Viz Media set up an office in Hollywood back in 2008 to help promote their titles to various movie studios.
A trailer for the upcoming Fairy Tail OVA “Memory Days” has been released by Kodansha via Youtube. The OVA will be together with the special edition release of Volume 31 of the Manga. Check it out!

To get fans hyped up for Space Battleship Yamato 2199’s upcoming remake, the Japanese branch of the online retailer Amazon began running a 225-second promo video earlier today. Yutaka Izubuchi (R! ahXephon), the 53-year-old designer who made the original mechanics and robotics of the Yamato franchise, will be the chief director of the show for the first season. The anime studios XEBEC and AIC are producing the anime, while Nobuteru Yuki and Makoto Kobayashi will be designing the characters and mechanics respectively. Judging on the quality of the video, I’d say the remake is worth checking out! It’s scheduled to go out on sale after it’s theatrical debut on April 7th, so don’t miss it!
It’s been announced that the ecchi filled action anime Queen’s Blade will be getting a third season. A 32-second promo video has been released giving sneek peeks at the characters.
