Bleach Gets Live Action Movie!

Ever wished that Bleach would be made into a live-action movie? Yeah…me either. Unfortunately, one brave soul has dared to take up the task of creating such a thing. Perennial Hollywood has confirmed that on Wednesday Warner Brothers studio purchased the live-action rights of the popular supernatural shounen series and has began working on the adaptation right away assigning Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans Remake) as the script writer. Producers such as Michael Ewing (Filmwork’s Partner), Peter Segal (Get Smart, The Longest Yard, Anger Management), Masi Oka (Heroes, Get Smart) and Branon Coluccio as an executive producer will be on the job. Segal reported that he has always been a fan of Bleach and has a lot of respect for Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach. Oka also reported that some of his characters in his American TV Series, Heroes, were inspired by Dragonball and also described himself as a Weekly Shounen Jump nerd.
In what seems to be a Manga frenzy in Hollywood, Warner Brothers have already acquired the rights to a few other titles such as Death Note, Akira, and Ninja Scroll which seem to be underway in the near future. Viz Media set up an office in Hollywood back in 2008 to help promote their titles to various movie studios.
