Fuji TV has just released news that the horror manga Mirai Nikki by Sakae Esuno will be getting a live action drama which will premiere this April on their Saturday night time slot! The drama will be titled Mirai Nikki: Another World and will have an original storyline along with a new main character named 星野新太 (possibly Hishino Arata) played by actor Masaki Okada.

The storyline will revolve around a lazy college student (Okada), who keeps a diary and doesn’t believe in the future or making any effort. Through his diary, he gets dragged into the survival game, and though he’s used to always running away from his issues, he finally decides to stand up and fight to survive. The script is being written by Yuusuke Watanabe (Gantz and 20th Century Boys movies) and include themes of “destruction and regeneration” and “ultimate love”. No news yet on whether a crazy ass Yuno-like character will appear…
